Scoops of the Day

($) Ziti’s Ready for Seconds 🍝

Ziti’s Italian American in West Fargo is preparing to expand after a strong first year that’s seen packed reservation lists and a loyal following. Owners Pat Lipsiea and Gabby Metzger plan to take over the vacant space next door, allowing for a redesigned entrance, a more comfortable lobby, and much needed private dining. The expansion aims to fix what they see as an awkward first impression, replacing a narrow hallway entry with a new north-facing entrance that opens into a welcoming lobby space.

The additional square footage will also free up the kitchen by moving dry storage into a market-style hallway display, making room for improved prep space. Nearly half of the new area will become a private dining room for groups, meetings, and celebrations, something the owners say they’ve often had to turn customers away from in the past. Renovations could be completed as early as March or April, marking another big step for the fast-growing restaurant inside The Lights development.

Hotdish Festival Heats Up Winter 🍲

Brewhalla’s annual Hotdish Festival continues to grow in popularity, selling out all 650 tickets well in advance. Attendees got to sample creations from 14 local eateries, including contenders like Rosewild and the Jasper Hotel, who hoped their short rib based hotdish would defend last year’s People’s Choice and Most Creative awards. Beyond the friendly competition, guests enjoyed warm comfort food, dessert pies from Bernie’s, and a beverage of their choice, making it a perfect winter pick me up.

Hector Airport Expands for Travelers ✈️

Hector International Airport is unveiling a major terminal expansion on February 10, adding four new gates, extra seating, more bathrooms, and a fresh concessions area beyond security. The upgrade also emphasizes comfort and accessibility, featuring a children’s play area, service animal relief space, a mother’s room, and a sensory room. Future improvements include an enclosed skyway to the parking ramp by December 2026 and further terminal renovations expected to finish in early 2027.
