Scoops of the Day

A Sweet Expansion for Sandy’s 🍩

Sandy’s Donuts is planning a big move in West Fargo, with proposals to convert the former Air Mechanical building into a dedicated donut factory. The current 11,300 square foot space would also see a 3,000 square foot addition, all aimed at boosting production efficiency and helping the popular local shop keep up with demand. According to local news reports, the new setup would focus on manufacturing and distribution rather than retail operations.

While the expansion isn’t expected to bring a large wave of new hires, a few additional full time positions could be added. The West Fargo City Commission has already approved a five year tax incentive that keeps the property tax near its current level, making the transition more financially feasible for the business.

New Interim President Named at NDSU 🎓

North Dakota State University has named Rick Berg as its new interim president, with current President David Cook introducing him on campus this week. Berg is an NDSU graduate and previously served one term as North Dakota’s U.S. House representative. His professional background is in real estate, and he is set to step into the role as Cook departs for his new position as president of Iowa State University.

Berg says his focus will be working closely with state legislative leaders and helping prepare the university for its next permanent president. While he does not come from a higher education leadership background, he shared that meeting faculty, staff, and students has made him excited to serve the NDSU community. Berg is expected to officially begin his role on Monday.
