Scoops of the Day
From Fargo to Mexico's Baseball Hotbed ⚾
Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks manager Chris Coste is continuing to make an impact far beyond the FM area, helping lead Mexico's Cañeros de Los Mochis as interim manager after serving on the coaching staff during a semifinal run last season. Coste says baseball is woven into the culture in Mexico, with fans bringing playoff-level energy to nearly every game.
Former RedHawks pitcher Jake Dykhoff also spent time with the club and described the experience as both challenging and rewarding. Coste noted that team building in Mexico differs significantly from American independent baseball, with owners often investing heavily in pursuit of championships. Both Coste and Dykhoff say the experience offers valuable lessons on and off the field, while giving players and coaches a chance to experience one of the sport's most passionate fan bases.

Blazin’ Bronco Rides Back to the Top at RibFest 🍖
After a brief two year break from the winner’s circle, Blazin’ Bronco BBQ of Cleveland, Ohio, reclaimed first place in the Happy Harry’s RibFest Critic’s Choice competition. The award marks another chapter in the team's long history of success on the barbecue circuit and carried extra significance as pitmaster Gary Carrino dedicated the victory to his uncle, Dennis Carrino, who helped build the team's legacy.
Aussom Aussie BBQ finished in second place, while Carolina Rib King claimed third among six nationally recognized rib vendors. Judges evaluated entries based on appearance, tenderness, and taste during the annual event, which draws tens of thousands of visitors to the FARGODOME parking lot each year and remains one of the Fargo area's most popular summer traditions.

Summer Starts Wild at the Zoo 🦁
Summer vacation got off to a fun start at the Red River Zoo as students and families gathered for the annual Summer Is Out celebration. Kids explored activity stations throughout the zoo, completed passport cards, enjoyed hands on games, and earned a free carousel ride while celebrating their first day away from the classroom.
The event combined fun and learning with nature themed activities designed to keep kids engaged while exploring the zoo. Organizers say the goal is to give families a memorable way to kick off summer break, and visitors can look forward to even more activities and special events throughout the season.

A Day of Giving for Those Who Served
Honor Flight Picnic Aims to Send More Veterans to D.C.
A popular community fundraiser is returning to West Fargo with a goal of helping even more local veterans visit the nation's capital. The annual Honor Flight Picnic, hosted by Hebron Brick Supply and Alsager Meats, will feature free food, live music, refreshments, and raffle prizes, all while raising money for Veterans Honor Flight of North Dakota and Minnesota.
Last year's event helped send 19 Fargo-Moorhead veterans to Washington, D.C., and organizers are hoping to fund trips for 30 or more this year. Every dollar raised through raffle ticket sales and donations goes directly toward covering travel costs for veterans to visit the memorials built in their honor, making this a fun event with a meaningful mission.
