Scoops of the Day
Downtown Convention Center Vision Builds Momentum 🏗️
Fargo based Kilbourne Group believes its downtown convention center proposal is a strong fit for the city by expanding onto the existing Civic Center and reusing much of the current infrastructure. Leaders say this approach helps control construction costs while still delivering a modern space that includes roughly 85,000 square feet with a ballroom, kitchen, and flexible meeting and exhibit areas. The goal is not only to create a functional convention hub but also to bring more visitors and foot traffic to downtown small businesses.
Kilbourne Group President Mike Allmendinger also expressed confidence in the future of downtown Fargo, citing continued progress from the city, police department, and Downtown Community Partnership. The project would be funded by the voter approved 3 percent lodging tax, which is expected to generate about $3 million annually, with downtown remaining one of several potential locations under consideration. Natural Pet Center Celebrates a Pawsome Milestone 🐾
Fargo favorite Natural Pet Center marked one year in business at its second location on the north side, celebrating with big discounts, free treats, giveaways, and raffle prizes for both cats and dogs. Employees say the anniversary weekend brought in strong foot traffic, continuing a trend they have seen since the store first opened.
Staff shared that many customers are excited to have a Natural Pet Center closer to home, especially those who previously traveled to the south Fargo location. The milestone comes shortly after the original store celebrated 20 years in business, highlighting the continued growth and loyal support behind the local pet supply shop. Source: KVRR. Best of the Midwest Cheers Up the Fargodome 📣
The region’s largest cheerleading competition, Best of the Midwest, brought a full day of energy and excitement to the Fargodome with teams traveling in from across the area. The event featured 237 performances spanning high school teams to All-Star squads, including participants as young as four years old, showcasing just how wide reaching and inclusive the competition has become.
Organizers shared that hosting the event in Fargo helps reduce the need for regional teams to travel out of state and creates more opportunities right here in the community. What started at Scheels Arena in 2022 has now outgrown its original home, with the move to the Fargodome highlighting the rapid growth and success of the event. Source: KVRR.
