Scoops of the Day

Red Panda Passage Is Coming to the Zoo 🐼

The Red River Zoo is getting ready to break ground on a brand new red panda experience this Friday, marking the next chapter for one of its most loved animal exhibits. Called Red Panda Passage, the project will transform the current habitat with expanded outdoor space, improved viewing areas, and new indoor features including large windows that give guests a closer look at the animals year round.

Zoo leaders say the project became possible through support from Chord Energy, state grant funding, and a private donor. The zoo has built a strong reputation over the past two decades for caring for and breeding Chinese Red Pandas and has earned national recognition for its work. The groundbreaking ceremony starts at 9 a.m. Friday and is included with regular zoo admission, with doors opening at 8:30 a.m.

Making a Splash: Romkey Park’s New Era Begins June 4 💦

A longtime community favorite is getting a fresh start as Moorhead prepares to open the new Romkey Park pool on June 4. After serving generations since opening in 1958, the original pool made way for a complete reimagining of the space that now includes a new aquatic area, splash pad, pickleball courts, and upgraded community amenities.

The $11.3 million project was shaped heavily by community feedback, with city leaders saying residents played a major role in deciding what features mattered most. The splash pad topped the wish list, and the city ultimately chose to keep the park rooted in its historic neighborhood location. Officials also emphasized keeping admission affordable, with daily pool entry expected around $5. The park itself is expected to officially open in the weeks following the pool launch.

Fargo’s New Indoor Adventure Park Set to Open Soon 🎢

TA new entertainment spot is gearing up to bring year-round excitement to south Fargo. NRG Adventure Park is scheduled to open Friday, May 29 inside the former Gordmans building, transforming the space into a large indoor adventure facility.

The park will feature a mix of high-energy attractions designed for kids, teens, and families, including a trampoline area, climbing walls, ball pits, a kid-friendly zip line, and a virtual reality zone. Guests will be able to choose timed play sessions ranging from 60 to 120 minutes, and the venue will also offer birthday party packages for group celebrations.

It’s another addition to Fargo’s growing list of family-friendly indoor activities, especially welcome as the summer season ramps up and weather can still be unpredictable in North Dakota.

A Sundae of Giving

500+ Volunteers, One Big Day of Impact ❤️

What started just a few years ago has quickly become one of the area’s biggest community service efforts. United Way of Cass-Clay’s Day of Action brought together more than 500 volunteers this year to support 28 local nonprofits through 47 hands on projects across the Fargo Moorhead area. The goal is simple but powerful: turn community compassion into meaningful action.

Volunteers spent the day tackling projects both big and small, from landscaping and cleanup work at local organizations to writing encouraging notes for students that will be included in school supply backpacks later this year. At places like Jeremiah Program, which supports single mothers and their children, organizers say even small efforts create lasting impact and show just how invested this community is in helping neighbors succeed.
