Scoops of the Day
A Sweet Sign of Spring in Moorhead 🍦
The historic Moorhead Dairy Queen is officially open for the season, and fans wasted no time lining up for their favorites. The location, which first opened in 1949, is known as the birthplace of the Dilly Bar and still hand dips the iconic treat on site, along with classics like Buster Bars.
Thanks to its original contract, this Dairy Queen serves up items you will not find anywhere else, including Monkey Tails, Chipper Sandwiches, and Mr. Malties. The menu also features savory staples like BBQ sandwiches, Q Dogs, and Polish sausages. This year marks the shop’s 75th anniversary, making opening day even sweeter for longtime customers.

West Fargo United Makes History on the Ice 🏒
For the first time in program history, West Fargo United is bringing home the North Dakota Girls’ Hockey state championship. The team edged out Grand Forks 2 to 1 in the title game, capping off a remarkable tournament run.
Their path to the championship was anything but easy. United defeated No. 4 Bismarck Century, No. 1 Fargo North South, and No. 2 Grand Forks, knocking off the top seeds along the way to secure the program’s first state crown. It goes down as one of the most impressive postseason runs in North Dakota girls hockey history.

CATurday Draws Crowd of Cat Lovers 🐾
Cat fans packed Fetchers on 39th Street South for its first ever CATurday event, where adoptable felines from Turtle Mountain Animal Rescue were the stars of the show. Guests could meet cats looking for forever homes, grab free goodie bags, tour Fetchers’ new cattery, and learn more at an informational booth hosted by the Red River Animal Emergency Hospital Blood Bank.
Fetchers staff said they were thrilled with the turnout, especially for a first time event. Rescue partners also shared that many local organizations are near capacity, making events like this especially important for finding homes for animals in need.

A Sundae of Giving
Chilly Throws for a Warm Cause 🥏
Disc golfers bundled up at Woodlawn Park this weekend for the 10th annual Moorhead Ice Bowl, hosted by Big Cat Disc Golf. The tournament is part of a nationwide Ice Bowl tradition that pairs winter play with fighting hunger. Of the $25 entry fee, $20 went directly to the Fargo Emergency Food Pantry, with the remaining $5 added to the prize pool.
Organizers say supporting local food shelves is at the heart of the event. Last year’s tournament raised more than $2,000 and collected 200 pounds of food, and early signs suggest this year’s totals surpassed both marks. Not bad for a day spent braving the cold for a few flying discs and a good cause.
