Moorhead is celebrating Homecoming twice this week as Minnesota State University Moorhead and Concordia College bring a packed lineup of events to town. MSUM’s festivities run Oct. 5-10 with everything from an outdoor showing of Shrek and a chili feed to an ice cream social, fireworks, athletics and a football game. Concordia’s “Boot Scootin’ & Cobb Rootin’” celebration runs Oct. 8-11, featuring a bonfire and fireworks, 5K, parade, tailgating, football and a Homecoming concert.

With so much happening across both campuses, there are plenty of ways to soak up the school spirit, whether you’re an alum, a student, or just looking for something fun to check out around Moorhead this week. For more details, read the full article here.

Holland’s Home & Garden is helping 4 Luv of Dog Rescue give some of its adoptable pups a chance to meet potential new families. The foster-based rescue currently has more than 20 dogs looking for homes, and adoption events like this give the dogs an opportunity to socialize and get comfortable around new people and places.

A portion of the proceeds raised at the event will also benefit 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, helping support the dogs in its care. If you’ve been thinking about adding a four-legged friend to the family, this could be a great chance to meet some pups who are ready for their forever homes. Hundreds of young hockey players are heading to the Fargo-Moorhead area this weekend for the annual Fargo FaceOff tournament. What started just a few years ago after a canceled pond hockey tournament has grown into a major event with around 1,000 players under 12 competing at rinks throughout the metro, including Scheels Arena and Cullen Youth Center.

There’s plenty happening off the ice, too, with family-friendly activities like MVP photo booths and hockey haircuts. For founder Jill Clark, though, the best part is watching young players develop their skills while families come together over their shared love of hockey.
