Scoops of the Day
🧵 West Fargo Kids Turn Bracelet Business Into Big Summer Plans 🎉
What started as a fun neighborhood hobby has quickly grown into a small business for five West Fargo kids now calling themselves “The Bracelet Bros.” The group has already sold around 100 handmade bracelets, all while working toward a pretty fun goal: throwing a neighborhood block party complete with things like a DJ, food truck, ice cream truck, and maybe even a few bouncy houses.
The boys originally sold lemonade, but cooler weather pushed them to get creative. Now, between school and playtime, they spend their days designing colorful bracelets and even going door-to-door making sales. Their parents say one of the best parts has been watching the kids build confidence and resilience after hearing plenty of “no’s” while still staying motivated. The group hopes to raise $500 before the end of summer, and based on how fast orders are coming in, they’re off to a strong start.

🦊 Red River Zoo Celebrates Moms With a Wild Mother’s Day 🌸
Families packed the Red River Zoo over the weekend as the zoo celebrated Mother’s Day by offering free admission to moms. With sunny weather and plenty of family-friendly activities, the zoo was buzzing with visitors enjoying time together while learning more about the animals that call the zoo home.
Zoo staff highlighted the important role animal mothers play too, especially the zoo’s well-known red pandas. Over the years, the Red River Zoo has welcomed many red panda babies, with staff noting that at one point nearly a quarter of the red pandas in AZA-accredited zoos were born right here in Fargo. The zoo says family and education are at the heart of everything they do, making Mother’s Day a perfect fit for the celebration.
And dads won’t be left out either. The zoo says a similar promotion is already planned for Father’s Day next month. For more details, read the full article here.
🧠 Why Acting “BE FAST” Could Save a Life ⏰
May is Stroke Awareness Month, and local medical experts are reminding people how important it is to recognize stroke symptoms quickly. Doctors say remembering the acronym “BE FAST” can help identify warning signs early, including sudden balance problems, vision changes, facial drooping, arm weakness, speech trouble, and knowing it’s time to call for help immediately.
Experts from Sanford Health and the American Heart Association also emphasized that many strokes are actually preventable. They encourage people to focus on healthy habits like managing blood pressure, staying active, eating well, and keeping up with regular medical care to lower their risk. The message this month is simple: knowing the signs and taking preventative steps can make a huge difference.

The Heroic Scoop
Honor Flight Heroes Touch Down in D.C. ✈️
More than 245 veterans from North Dakota and Minnesota spent the weekend in Washington, D.C. as part of this year’s Honor Flight, giving them the chance to visit memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. The trip started with an emotional sendoff from Fargo’s Hector International Airport, complete with a police escort and bagpipes. One especially touching moment came when a veteran was surprised by his enlisted grandson waiting to greet him after landing in D.C.
Throughout the first day, veterans visited the National Museum of the U.S. Army, the Marine Corps War Memorial, and the Air Force Memorial. Along the way, many shared personal memories from their years in service, from experiences overseas to stories about lifelong friendships and family. For many veterans, the trip was more than sightseeing. It was a chance to reflect, reconnect, and be honored alongside others who served.
The Honor Flight continues with stops at Arlington National Cemetery, the Vietnam and Korean War memorials, and the National Air and Space Museum. For more details, read the full article here.
