Scoops of the Day
Moorhead’s “Loop” Opens a New Chapter 📚
There was a celebratory buzz in Moorhead on April 18 as city leaders and community members gathered to mark the grand opening of The Loop, a long-awaited multi-use space on Center Avenue. Mayor Shelly Carlson called it “a library of the twenty-first century,” highlighting its role as the new home for the Moorhead Public Library and the Spark Center. The building, named for its indoor walking track, represents a major step forward in the city’s downtown development efforts.
Officials, including Tina Smith, praised the project as a realization of years of planning and investment, with federal funding helping bring the vision to life. Beyond books, The Loop features a children’s play area, co-working spaces, and community gathering areas designed to make it a true local hub. Early interest is already strong, with hundreds of new library cards issued during its soft opening. For more details, read the full article here.
New Student Leaders Take the Helm 🎓
North Dakota State University has officially welcomed its new student body president, Kaley Quam, and vice president, Drew LeBrun, who are focused on connection, advocacy, and improving student life. Both leaders bring strong involvement backgrounds and are prioritizing key initiatives like preparing for the 2027 legislative session, introducing a clearer AI usage scale for coursework, improving access to class materials before the semester begins, and continuing efforts around campus safety and Fall Break. They also plan to build stronger relationships with students by showing up at campus events and encouraging open dialogue. With a focus on leadership, collaboration, and student success, Quam and LeBrun aim to leave NDSU better than they found it while helping students make the most of their college experience.
