Scoops of the Day

Firework Safety Tips Before the 4th 🎇

With firework injuries up 52% from last year, local first responders are urging caution ahead of Independence Day. They recommend only allowing those 12+ to handle fireworks, always having an adult nearby, and soaking used fireworks in water before throwing them out to prevent fires.

Be mindful of neighbors—especially veterans—and secure pets before lighting up the sky. And one more thing: skip the booze if you're lighting the fuse. For more details, read the full article here.

“Phone of the Wind” Coming to Fargo 📞

Fargo’s Garden of Healing is planting something new—a “Healing Hotline,” also known as a “Phone of the Wind.” This unique feature allows people to "call" and speak to loved ones who’ve passed, offering a deeply personal way to process grief. It will be the first of its kind in North Dakota.

The phone will sit among concrete monoliths designed to create a private, peaceful space. Construction begins in August, with more garden expansions—like walking paths and water features—planned for the next phase. Funding is supported in part by the Red River Valley Garden Tour. For more details, read the full article here.

32nd Avenue South Reconstruction Sees Key Reopening’s 🚧

Progress continues on Fargo’s 32nd Avenue South reconstruction with north and southbound lanes at 17th Street South reopening on July 2. This milestone restores important neighborhood access, while 32nd Avenue remains closed to east/west traffic between 17th and 18th Streets, with detours in place. Businesses remain accessible and pedestrian routes are maintained. The project, which started in April 2023, will improve infrastructure and traffic flow through 2026. Drivers should plan routes carefully and stay cautious near construction. For more details, read the full article here.
