Scoops of the Day
K9 Kash Gets a Vest 🐾
Clay County Sheriff’s Office K9 Kash is now better protected thanks to a donated ballistic vest from Brady’s K9 Fund and a generous supporter. Brady’s K9 Fund, started by an 8-year-old passionate about protecting four-legged officers, has been equipping K9s with life-saving gear since 2018. To date, the organization has raised over $1.4 million and provided vests to more than 950 K9s across the U.S. For more details, read the full article here.
A Family's Mission to Help Teens 🎁
The Harrenga family in West Fargo is making a difference for local high school students this holiday season by addressing more than just academic struggles. Inspired by their son Alec’s observations of classmates in need, Jill and John Harrenga are donating essentials like blankets, clothing, and toiletries to students who lack basic necessities.
Collaborating with counselors at Community High School and other schools in the Fargo-Moorhead area, the Harrengas have helped establish a pantry where students can access items discreetly. Their efforts underscore the importance of ensuring teens don’t have to worry about meeting basic needs like food and warmth. For more details, read the full article here.
FM Trailbuilders Gear Up for Winter 🚴♂️
Fargo-Moorhead Trailbuilders, a local non-profit dedicated to maintaining natural surface trails, is readying popular paths like Gooseberry and MB Johnson for winter adventures. Using equipment like the snowdog — a trail-grooming machine — they ensure smooth routes for snowshoeing, hiking, and fat biking enthusiasts.
While they’re hard at work, the group is also recovering from a theft that cost them over $3,000 in essential tools. To help, Junkyard Brewing Company in Moorhead is hosting a Winter Trail Rally on December 5, donating $1 per pint sold to support the Trailbuilders. For more details, read the full article here.

Fargo Libraries' Mitten Trees 🧤
Fargo Public Libraries have kicked off their annual Mitten Trees initiative, offering hats, mittens, scarves, and socks to those in need. This tradition, now in its sixth year, invites the community to donate handmade or store-bought items, ensuring everyone has access to winter essentials.
“The library is a community place,” said Amber Emery, Children’s Services Manager. “We want to provide a space where people can share with their neighbors and where those in need can take items without any barriers.”
Donations have started trickling in, and the library looks forward to seeing the trees fill up with warmth and generosity. For more details, read the full article here.
