Scoops of the Day
Fresh Picks Are Back: Local CSA Signups Open 🌽
Registration is now open for Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley’s community supported agriculture program, giving locals a chance to enjoy fresh, homegrown produce all summer long. The program runs for up to 12 weeks, starting in mid-July through the end of September, with weekly boxes filled with seasonal vegetables like lettuce, radishes, peas, potatoes, and even pumpkins.
What started as a small effort has grown steadily over the past decade, and organizers are hoping to reach more than 100 participants this year. While space is limited, the goal remains the same: to share as much locally grown food as possible with the community. If you’ve been thinking about eating more local this summer, this is a pretty easy way to do it while supporting a meaningful program.

Lighting the Night Red to Honor Fallen Firefighters 🚒
The West Fargo Fire Department is joining departments across the country in a meaningful tribute to firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty. From April 26 through May 3, all West Fargo fire stations will be illuminated in red as part of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend, a nationwide effort to recognize and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Community members are encouraged to take part in the tribute by lighting their homes, businesses, and buildings with red exterior lights during the same time period. The initiative aims to create a visible show of unity and appreciation, turning the city red in honor of fallen heroes and the legacy they leave behind. For more details, read the full article here.
More Than a Game: Strike Out Cancer Honors a Lasting Legacy ⚾
A baseball field in West Fargo turned into something much bigger than a competition this week, as Sheyenne High School hosted its annual Strike Out Cancer event. The game honored former student Landon Solberg while raising money for families facing cancer, blending community, remembrance, and purpose into every inning. Though Landon would have been a senior this year, his presence was deeply felt as players, students, and supporters came together to celebrate his life and continue his impact.
Now in its third year, the event has become a meaningful tradition for the Sheyenne Mustangs and West Fargo Packers. Players spoke about the importance of supporting families going through unimaginable challenges, even if they didn’t personally know Landon. Before the game, an emotional moment brought the community even closer, as Landon’s younger brother Griffin and his youth baseball team joined players on the field. Proceeds from the event go toward Landon’s Light Foundation, which aims to create “miracle moments” for children battling cancer, keeping Landon’s spirit of kindness and strength alive.

Miles That Matter: Statewide Run Honors Loss & Love 💙
A group of 12 runners has been selected for the 2026 10.15 Project, a powerful four-day relay that will span more than 400 miles across North Dakota this fall. The run is designed to honor families affected by pregnancy and infant loss, with each mile representing a life remembered. The project is named after October 15, recognized nationally as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, and will conclude in Fargo on October 18.
Participants say this journey is about more than endurance. It’s about carrying stories, raising awareness, and creating space for conversations that are often difficult to have. Several local leaders, including Fargo’s deputy mayor, shared personal connections to loss, underscoring how deeply this issue impacts the community. Organizers are inviting others to get involved by sponsoring the relay or submitting names to be honored along the route, ensuring every mile carries meaning.
