Scoops of the Day

ND Schools Awarded Farm to School Grants 🌽

Thirteen North Dakota schools and producers have been awarded grants to support the Farm to School program, which helps bring locally grown food into school meals. Backed by $204,500 in USDA funding, the grants will go toward equipment that makes it easier for schools to buy and serve food from local producers.

The goal is to improve child nutrition, support North Dakota’s agricultural economy, and teach students about where their food comes from. Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says the funding helps break down barriers between schools and producers, increasing access to fresh, local options. On May 21, the players shared stories about baseball, teamwork, and doing your best, sparking plenty of curiosity from the kids, who got to ask questions and learn more about the team.
