Scoops of the Day
🌳 Reforest the Red Brings Hundreds of New Trees to Fargo
Volunteers from local businesses and high schools came together for the annual Reforest the Red event, planting about 200 trees and 2,000 shrubs along the Red River. The project helps restore natural growth along the banks, improving water quality, reducing air pollution, and creating better habitats for wildlife.
City of Fargo Urban Forestry Program Manager Allen Lee noted that replacing mowed land with native plants not only saves maintenance but also brings the riverfront closer to its natural state from years past.

Quilting Kindness for Ukraine 🧶
In Fargo, the quilters of Olivet Lutheran Church create about 250 quilts each year for those in need, many of which stay local. When FM Volunteers for Ukraine asked for a special quilt to help raise funds for refugee families, the group eagerly stepped up. The handmade quilt will be auctioned at the Day of Peace Fundraiser on Sunday, September 21, at Gooseberry Park in Moorhead.
The event will show Ukrainian families that the Fargo-Moorhead community values and supports them as they face the loss of sponsorship status and work eligibility. Attendees can look forward to a silent auction, raffle, traditional Ukrainian music, and guest speakers like Mayor Shelley Carlson.

Walk for Veteran Suicide Awareness 💙
Heroes Compass is hosting its fourth annual walk in Fargo to raise awareness for veterans struggling with suicidal thoughts. The 2.2-mile walk begins Monday at 9:22 a.m. at Percy Godwin Park, also known as Elephant Park, near the Fargo VA Medical Center, and ends at the Downtown Fargo VFW Post #762.
The distance and start time honor the 22 veterans who take their own lives each day, a statistic the nonprofit hopes to spotlight while uniting the community in support of those who’ve served.
