Scoops of the Day
Veterans Set for Honor Flight to D.C. ✈️
Nearly 230 veterans from North Dakota and Minnesota are preparing for a meaningful trip to Washington, D.C., with the Veterans Honor Flight. A pre-flight meeting at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks helped veterans and their families get ready for the journey, which includes visiting memorials built in their honor—free of charge.
Honor Flight Director Tod Ganje says the trip is all about showing appreciation. For some, it’s deeply personal—Vietnam veteran Richard Anderson shared how he extended his service overseas so his father could undergo heart surgery once he returned. Others, like Ray Mondberg, are traveling with loved ones by their side when the group departs on April 20. For more details, read the full article here.
Concordia’s Annual Powwow Honors Indigenous Culture 🪶
Concordia College hosted its 34th annual Powwow on April 5, filling the Memorial Auditorium with traditional dance, music, and vibrant celebration. Grand Entries took place at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., with a community meal served between.
The event featured vendors, a silent auction, and performances honoring Indigenous heritage. “It’s just to learn about the Indigenous culture and hear authentic voices,” said Anna Sheppard, president of White Earth Tribal Community College. Supported by grants, the powwow offered low-cost admission and welcomed all ages. For more details, read the full article here.

Sabrina began playing violin at just four years old and says she’s loved every moment of the journey. Her goal? To meet new people, honor the country, and share her music. “I’m so grateful to have this amazing opportunity,” she said. For more details, read the full article here.
