Scoops of the Day

Holiday Food & Toy Drive Underway 🎁

First Responders across North Dakota are gearing up for the annual Holiday Food and Toy Drive at Walmart locations in Fargo, Bismarck, Devils Lake, Jamestown, Mandan, and Williston. The North Dakota Highway Patrol will be leading the effort as they collect new toys, clothing, non-perishable food, and financial donations. Last year, the community donated more than 3,300 toys along with a large amount of food, and organizers hope to continue spreading joy to families in need. Trooper Darin Malafa says the generosity they see each year, from large donations to someone giving their last five dollars, makes a meaningful impact on the community. Holiday Cheer Lights Up Broadway Square 🎅

Santa and Mrs. Claus helped kick off the season by lighting the tree at Broadway Square, where guests enjoyed fire pits, marshmallow roasting, and festive trolley rides throughout the city. The event, delayed a week due to last Tuesday’s snowstorm, drew a great turnout once the weather cleared. “I think last week would’ve been pretty hard to hold the event with all the snow… We’re blessed tonight! It’s a beautiful night,” said Fargo Park District Executive Director Susan Faus. For more details, read the full article here.

Bringing Holiday Cheer to NICU Moms 💌

Volunteers with Dear NICU Mama are helping spread hope this season by sending 4,200 personalized holiday cards to mothers with babies in the NICU. Each card is started by a volunteer, then finished by a veteran NICU mom and delivered to the hospital where her own child once stayed, creating a meaningful full-circle connection.

Founded in 2019 by Ashley Ham and Martha Mink, both former NICU moms, Dear NICU Mama now supports more than 31,000 families through groups, podcasts, webinars, and letters. Their goal is simple: remind NICU mothers that they are not alone. For more details, read the full article here.
