Scoops of the Day

Memory Cafe Receives Transformative Gift 🏠

Memory Cafe of the Red River Valley is getting a permanent home thanks to a generous anonymous donation of a building and land in south Fargo. Currently operating out of five satellite locations, the nonprofit supports 130–150 people weekly with memory loss programs including support groups, educational seminars, music, and art activities.

The new site at 3910 25th St. S., formerly Capstone Classical Academy, will eventually feature classrooms, a gym, a library, and a conference room, streamlining programming and creating a dedicated space for the memory loss community. Leaders say the gift will transform their operations, allowing them to expand offerings while maintaining partnerships with local organizations. A fundraising campaign for renovations and future expansion is planned. For more details, read the full article here.

F5 Project: Helping People Rebuild Lives ⛳

For nearly nine years, the F5 Project has been helping North Dakotans find employment and housing, serving over 500 people each month. Founded by Adam Martin in Fargo, the nonprofit focuses on supporting individuals who want to make positive life changes, guiding them through challenges and setbacks with compassion and practical assistance.

The organization’s annual golf tournament has become a key fundraiser, raising over $26,000 last year to provide meals, housing, and rent support. With eight locations across the state and recent expansion into Detroit Lakes, F5 Project emphasizes community responsibility in helping people rebuild their lives and reduce recidivism. Zoo Toy Workshop at ND Autism Center 🦁

Kids and families enjoyed a creative afternoon at the North Dakota Autism Center, making toys for zoo animals in partnership with the Red River Zoo. The hands-on activity offered a fun way to learn new skills, engage socially, and give back to the community. Open to all families, these free events aim to connect the community while providing educational and engaging experiences for children of all ages. For more details, read the full article here.

A Sundae of Giving

Healing Hotline at the Garden of Healing

Fargo’s Garden of Healing now features a unique public phone designed to help people process grief and find closure. The “Healing Hotline” isn’t connected to anyone—the only sound on the other end is the wind—but it offers visitors a private space to speak to loved ones they’ve lost. Inspired by Japan’s “Phone of the Wind,” this first-of-its-kind installation in North Dakota encourages reflection, healing, and emotional connection for anyone who stops by.
