Moorhead takes on Warroad with two games scheduled: JV at 3 p.m. and Varsity at 5 p.m. Following the action, the anniversary social kicks off at 7 p.m. at TAK, located at 1710 Center Ave. W. in Dilworth. 100 Years of Memories 🎉

Ross Matthews, a World War II veteran, marked his 100th birthday at the American Legion in Moorhead on December 15, surrounded by friends and family. Born on December 7, 1924, Ross has formed connections across generations, with many reflecting on his lasting impact.

The centenarian’s celebration was filled with laughter, heartfelt stories, and even a few tears. “Dry eyes, and they leak a little,” Ross quipped, as he reflected on the meaningful relationships and memories that have defined his remarkable century. For more details, read the full article here.

Golden Generosity in Fargo 🪙

A surprising treasure was discovered in a Fargo Salvation Army Red Kettle last week—a 2016 Australian Gold Kangaroo coin. Valued at up to $2,900, this 1-ounce gold coin features Queen Elizabeth II on one side and a kangaroo on the other.

With the Salvation Army’s holiday goal set at $900,000 and just over $350,000 raised so far, this generous donation is a bright boost for their efforts. The Australian Kangaroo coins, first minted in 1987, are rare finds, making this gift especially remarkable. For more details, read the full article here.

The Heroic Scoop

Fargo’s Heartfelt Help ❤️

When a Montana man traveling to Michigan suffered chest pains in Fargo on December 11, the community quickly rallied to care for him—and his 14 goats and two dogs. After Fargo Police transported him to a local hospital, Community Service Officer LaVerne Buzick coordinated with Skip Anderson of NDSU Animal Sciences to provide hay and straw for the goats. A local pet spa also stepped in to provide water, while the dogs were cared for at a nearby pound.

The man’s family expressed their deep gratitude: “THANK YOU FARGO! Your quick teamwork and care ensured our Dad and his animals made it safely to their new farm.” Fargo Police told the family they’re always welcome back for a visit. For more details, read the full article here.
