Reeling in Winter Fun 🎣

The Park Rapids Community Fish House on Fishhook Lake is now open, offering a cozy and well-equipped spot for fishing enthusiasts. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., the house provides access to fishing rods, tackle, an underwater camera, pre-drilled holes, heat, and even a Vexilar upon request.

Reservations are made in person at Northern Bait (614 Main Ave S, Park Rapids). A valid ID is required, and minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Don’t forget to bring your own bait, snacks, and drinks for the perfect fishing experience! For more details, read the full article here.

Running Against Time 🏃‍♂️

At 74 years old, Duluth ultramarathoner Michael Koppy is set to take on the grueling Arrowhead Ultra 135, aiming to become the oldest person to complete the 135-mile race on foot. Starting January 27, Koppy will have 60 hours to traverse from International Falls to Tower, pulling a 40-pound sled of gear in what’s often the coldest week of the year.

Beyond the personal challenge, Koppy is running to raise awareness and funds for the Duluth Area YMCA, a cause close to his heart. With decades of running experience and a track record of ultra-distance races, Koppy sees age as no barrier, saying, “I don’t let the age dictate what I should do.” For more details, read the full article here.

Therapy on the Move 🚐

Beyond Boundaries Therapy in West Fargo has taken a groundbreaking approach to reach rural communities by creating a Mobile Therapy Unit. Thanks to a $5,000 BUILD Grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, the clinic transformed a bus into a traveling therapy center, offering occupational, physical, and speech therapy to areas outside the Fargo-Moorhead metro.

This initiative helps overcome challenges like time constraints and limited access, ensuring families in rural areas receive the resources they need. Blue Cross Blue Shield praised the program for making a meaningful impact in underserved communities. For more details, read the full article here.

Phase II Open House 🏓 – Come celebrate the unveiling of exciting new spaces at the Fargo Parks Sports Center! Explore six pickleball courts, an indoor playground, two ice rinks, four basketball courts, and more. Enjoy open play on the pickleball courts and playground, learn pickleball basics from the pros, and be one of the first to skate on the new rinks! Plus, staff from Sanford Sports Academy and Sanford Sports Performance will be on hand to answer all your questions. There will be giveaways, light refreshments, and fun for the whole family!

Packing with Purpose

FargoPack Reaches a Milestone 🥳

Feed My Starving Children FargoPack is celebrating an incredible achievement—packing and donating over 20 million meals during its 11-year run. This global impact provides daily meals for more than 50,000 children and their families around the world.

What began in 2014 as a small packing event at Atonement Lutheran Church, producing 200,000 meals in three days, has grown into a powerhouse operation. By their fifth year, FargoPack packed 2.5 million meals in just four days, even with weather-related disruptions. For their 10th anniversary, they packed nearly 10 million meals at the FARGODOME, highlighting their tremendous growth and dedication. For more details, read the full article here.
