Scoops of the Day

Pup Meet & Greet 🐾

4 Luv of Dog Rescue took some adorable pups out to Holland’s Landscaping and Garden in Fargo to help them find their forever homes. The event allowed potential pet parents to interact with the dogs and learn more about their personalities from the fosters on-site. Volunteers say these meet-and-greet events are crucial for socializing the dogs and giving them a better chance to connect with families. Pictures don’t always show a dog's true personality, but face-to-face moments can make all the difference. For more details, read the full article here.

($) Running for Kids' Shoes 👟

James Botnen completed an impressive 101-mile run through Fargo-Moorhead to raise awareness and funds for the "Shoes for Kids" initiative. His journey ended at Fargo South High School, where students from local schools gathered to cheer him on as he finished at all 50 schools in the community. This effort honors Botnen's late friend Mark Knutson, a co-founder of the Fargo Marathon and the nonprofit Shoes for Kids, which provides shoes to children in need. Friends, family, and Scheels officials celebrated at the finish line, where Scheels announced a generous $22,000 donation to the program just minutes after Botnen crossed the line. Powering Up After the Storm ⚡

Lineworkers from various Minnesota communities are heading to the Southeast to assist in power restoration following Hurricane Helene. Xcel Energy is dispatching over 100 employees, alongside 80 lineworkers from Minnesota electric cooperatives, including Clearwater-Polk Electric Cooperative, Red Lake Electric Cooperative, Runestone Electric, and Todd Wadena Electric Cooperative. The storm has caused significant devastation and outages across several southern states, making these efforts crucial for restoring power to affected areas. Scoop of Kindness

Bikers for a Cause 🏍️

Fire and Iron MC, an international motorcycle club, raised $7,500 on a 90-mile ride from Grand Forks to Devils Lake, donating the funds to Altru’s autism diagnostic clinic. Inspired by Joe Getty, whose son was diagnosed with autism, the club aims to spread autism awareness and support families seeking diagnostic help. Altru offers a team of therapists who screen and recommend services for children in need. The money raised helps offset the cost of diagnosis, which can reach thousands of dollars, making it more accessible for families. For more details, read the full article here.
