Scoops of the Day

Restoring Fargo’s Mighty Wurlitzer 🎹

The Red River Theatre Organ Society is raising $500,000 to restore the historic Mighty Wurlitzer organ at the Fargo Theatre, which has entertained audiences for nearly a century. The restoration involves shipping and rebuilding several worn or damaged parts to return the organ to its original condition. With only four in-house organists able to play it, the society continues its decades-long mission of preserving this unique piece of local music history. To celebrate and support the effort, the group will host its first-ever Mighty Wurlitzer Gala on November 8. For more details, read the full article here.

Boo at the Zoo Brings Spooky Fun 🎃

Families and kids in costume filled the Red River Zoo this past weekend for the annual “Boo at the Zoo” celebration, featuring Halloween-themed activities and plenty of trick-or-treating. Red River Zoo CEO Sally Mulvena called the event “heartwarming,” noting how much joy it brings to see children proudly showing off their costumes before Halloween. The event also helps boost zoo attendance during the cooler months. If you missed out, don’t worry — Boo at the Zoo will return on October 18 and 25 for more spooky fun. For more details, read the full article here.

Science Comes to Life at Rheault Farm 🔬

Kids in Fargo got a hands-on taste of science thanks to a collaboration between the Fargo Park District and Concordia Science Academy. The two groups hosted The Lab, a special biology-themed event at Rheault Farm, alongside the BIG Event at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. Featuring interactive exhibits and exotic animals, the goal was to spark curiosity and excitement about STEM for kids ages 7 to 12. Organizers said they wanted to make science accessible, educational, and fun — and judging by the enthusiasm from young participants, it worked. For more details, read the full article here.

Fargo’s Newest World Record

World-Record Maze in Fargo 🌎

Fargo can now claim a Guinness World Record after the Great Maze at West Acres was officially certified as the largest temporary wood maze in the world, spanning an impressive 40,411 square feet and surpassing the previous record held in Denmark. This marks the maze’s first season using cedar instead of hay, a change that helped make owner Kathy Johnson’s lifelong dream a reality. The maze remains open through the end of October, so there’s still time to get lost in Fargo’s record-breaking attraction. For more details, read the full article here.
