UND Launches First Satellites into Orbit 🛰️

History was made as UND launched North Dakota’s first-ever commissioned satellites, ROADS one and two, into orbit on June 23 via SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket. Developed with AVS USA, these low Earth orbit satellites are now sending valuable data back to mission control, marking a major step forward for the university's space operations.

Once confirmed to be in good health, the satellites will be fully operated from UND’s Odegard Hall. With hands-on student involvement and ambitious future goals, this mission opens exciting new possibilities for the university’s Space Studies program and the next generation of satellite engineers. West Fargo Fireworks Rules for July 4 🎇

Fireworks are allowed in West Fargo only on July 4 from 8:00 am to 11:50 pm, and again on Dec 31 from 8:00 pm to 1:00 am. Users must be at least 12 years old, and fireworks are not allowed on public property without written permission.

Sky lanterns are banned, and all fireworks must be 1.4G class. Soak used fireworks in water overnight before disposal. Violations may lead to confiscation or fines. In Fargo and Moorhead, fireworks laws are stricter, with many types fully prohibited. For more details, read the full article here.

Meet K9 Gimli and Officer Hermes 🐾

Say hello to the newest member of the Moorhead Police K9 squad — K9 Gimli, a 14-month-old German Shepherd/Malinois mix from Europe! Gimli will team up with Officer Anastacia Hermes, the department’s first-ever female K9 handler.
