Scoops of the Day
Celebrating 100 Sweet Years 🎉
Fargo resident Betty Parkhouse just hit an incredible milestone—her 100th birthday! Surrounded by family and friends at the Osgood Clubhouse, Betty’s celebration was filled with laughter, love, and memories shared by her 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren (a number even she admits is hard to keep track of!).
Betty credits her long life to staying active, though her family jokes it might actually be thanks to her "brandy water" secret. From cleaning for the former governor’s family to being a beloved matriarch, Betty has left a lasting legacy of joy and resilience. For more details, read the full article here.
From Setback to Strength 🏃
After a devastating football injury, Jacob Murphy of Grand Forks has turned his life around with the help of Sanford Sports. Tearing his ACL, LCL, meniscus, and hamstring seemed like the end of the road, but through two surgeries and countless therapy sessions, Jacob discovered a love for exercise.
What began as a recovery routine has now become a lifestyle, with Jacob shedding over 80 pounds and completing multiple 5K and half-marathon races. Alongside his trainer, Matt McCreary, who started his career with Jacob as his first client, this journey has been one of shared growth and triumph.
Jacob encourages others to stay determined: “You really just have to try it... eventually, you’ll like it.” For more details, read the full article here.
($) 101-Year-Old Fargo Man Still Crushing the Gym 💪
At 101 years old, Al Ohrt is proving that age is just a number. A regular at the Silver Sneakers fitness class at Total Balance Physical Therapy and Fitness, Ohrt works out twice a week, inspiring his classmates and staff with his dedication.
Ohrt joined the class after a friend’s invite and now enjoys the camaraderie of the group. “It’s good to get out of the house and do some exercises,” he said. Though he’s modest about his longevity, staff say his secret might include a glass of whiskey before supper. Whatever it is, Al’s commitment to staying active is nothing short of remarkable. A Winning Scoop

Sled Hockey Showdown Brings Smiles 🏒
If you caught last Tuesday’s edition, you knew the UND Fighting Hawks were set to face off against the Hope Inc. Hurricanes, and here’s the rundown of how it went down last Wednesday. The Hurricanes triumphed 5-4 in a thrilling shootout, with Kolton Saude scoring two goals and the shootout winner.
Despite UND’s reputation for top-tier skaters, sled hockey proved to be a unique challenge. “It’s actually a lot of work for them, and it’s kind of impressive,” said UND’s Cameron Berg.
The real win, though, came from the shared fun and camaraderie of the game. “I’m going to remember this for the rest of my life. It was like I said, really, really fun,” said Hope Inc. goalie Jake Zilka. For more details, read the full article here.
