Historic Draft Pick 🌟
Splash Into Safety 💧
Two For The Road Tour 🎤
Let’s dive in!
Scoops of the Day
Grey Zabel Goes 18th Overall to Seahawks 🏈
North Dakota State's powerhouse reputation grows even stronger! Grey Zabel, a standout All-American tackle, was selected 18th overall by the Seattle Seahawks during the first round of the NFL Draft. Zabel, celebrating with his family in Pierre, South Dakota, now holds the title of highest-picked FCS offensive lineman in history. He's also the third-highest Bison ever drafted, following Carson Wentz and Trey Lance. Zabel helped lead the Bison to a National Championship last season, and now he’s ready to take his talents to the next level. Big congratulations to another NDSU star making history! National Water Safety Month Tips 💦
As May approaches, so does National Water Safety Month—a perfect reminder to stay sharp around the water. Swim instructors are emphasizing that drowning often happens silently, without the splashing and shouting we might expect. Instead of jumping in to rescue someone, experts recommend using safety tools like a ring buoy or pool noodle to help from a safe distance. If you’re the one needing help, techniques like "tiger paddles" and floating on your back can make all the difference.
Foss Swim School in Fargo has launched their “Safe in Sight” campaign, encouraging everyone to wear bright colors in the water, like pink or yellow, to stay easily visible. They also stress that it's never too early—or too late—to learn essential water skills. While Foss's spring swim session is full, summer enrollment opens May 6th, along with dry land sessions focusing on life jacket safety and more. For more details, read the full article here.

A Scoop of Strength
Ms. Wheelchair North Dakota Champions Mental Health Advocacy 🌟
Stacy Johnson of Grand Forks is making history as the second-ever Ms. Wheelchair North Dakota—and she's using her platform to advocate for an often-overlooked issue: specialized mental health support and suicide awareness for people with disabilities. After a 2020 motorcycle accident left her paralyzed, Johnson faced challenges adjusting to life in a wheelchair but found strength through her work at Altru Cancer Center, where her team made sure she could return to her career.
Now more confident and outspoken, Johnson is pushing for greater awareness and better data on spinal cord injuries and mental health. She believes it's crucial for those with disabilities to be seen, heard, and supported. Johnson is currently fundraising to compete at the national level and continue amplifying her important message. For more details, read the full article here.
