Scoops of the Day
Patriotic Pride at McKinley Elementary 🇺🇸
Students at McKinley Elementary in Fargo showed their gratitude for local veterans with a heartfelt Veterans Day program ahead of the holiday. Kindergarten through fifth-grade students performed patriotic songs, and teachers read the names of each attending veteran, celebrating their service and dedication. The school has held this annual tradition for over 25 years, reflecting a deep community commitment to honoring veterans. Donna Johnson, from FPS early childhood special education, highlighted the sacrifices veterans make, missing important family moments to serve. This year’s event also welcomed back a former student as an honored veteran guest. For more details, read the full article here.
Jamming in a Flash 🎶
The 48 Hour Band Competition, organized by Jade Presents, brought musicians together for a unique challenge at Fargo Brewing: form a band, create 10 minutes of original music, and perform on stage—all within just two days. Musicians were randomly grouped on Thursday and tasked with coming up with a band name and a setlist by Saturday night, performing in front of judges and a live audience for the People’s Choice award. For many, it was more than just a performance; it was a chance to connect with new friends, share in the thrill of collaboration, and rediscover the joy of making music together. Hearts of Thanks from Eagles Elementary ❤️
First graders from Eagles Elementary School shared heartfelt gratitude with veteran residents at Touchmark Retirement Community ahead of Veterans Day. Armed with thank-you notes and handmade mosaic American flags shaped like hearts, the young students connected with the residents, practicing their handwriting and communication skills. The visit is part of Eagles Elementary’s Adopt-A-School partnership with Touchmark, a program that pairs schools with community organizations to support events, mentoring, and educational activities. This Veterans Day gesture gave students a meaningful way to say thank you while building connections across generations. For more details, read the full article here.
