AI in North Dakota Classrooms šŸ¤–

Teachers across North Dakota are juggling excitement and concern as AI becomes more common in K to 12 schools. Many say they lack the time and training to keep up with fast changing tools, while students often use AI for shortcuts instead of learning. At the same time, educators see big potential for more efficient planning and personalized instruction. With outdated state guidance, districts are creating their own policies and calling for more support, clearer expectations and better conversations around ethics and responsible use. For more details, read the full article here.

Fargo Theatre Upgrades Coming šŸŽ¬

The nearly 100-year-old Fargo Theatre is gearing up for a major seating upgrade that begins in January, marking the first restoration project leading into its 2026 centennial. The current seats date back decades, with first-floor seating from the 1960s and balcony seats from 1937. The new design keeps the classic Art Deco look while adding modern comfort including wider seats, added padding and cupholders. The project also includes nine new ADA compliant seats. Executive Director Emily Beck says the goal is to enhance comfort while staying true to the theatre’s historic character. For more details, read the full article here.

Justice Lisa Fair McEvers Makes History šŸ‘©ā€āš–ļø

Justice Lisa Fair McEvers has been elected to serve as North Dakota’s first female chief justice and will officially take over leadership of the state Supreme Court on January 1, 2026. She will succeed Chief Justice Jon Jensen, who is stepping down at the end of the year after serving in the role since 2020.

McEvers has been on the North Dakota Supreme Court since 2014 and has built a long career in public service that includes time as a district judge, Cass County assistant state’s attorney, and North Dakota commissioner of labor. Her election marks a major milestone for the state’s judicial history, since the Supreme Court has never before been led by a woman. For more details, read the full article here.
