NDSU alum Pheafrisia Strachan has taken her veterinary technology degree from Fargo to an oceanfront career in the Bahamas. NDSU Professor Honored for Research and Teaching 🎓

Steven Briggs, an associate professor in NDSU’s Department of Political Science and Public Policy, has been named a Clouston Family Political Science and Public Policy Faculty Fellow, a three year appointment recognizing excellence in research, teaching, and service. Briggs, who joined NDSU in 2013, is known for his work on crime and public policy, his engaging classroom approach that connects real world policy to coursework, and his strong mentorship of students. The fellowship, supported by NDSU alumnus David Clouston and his wife Stephanie, highlights faculty who demonstrate exceptional achievement and continued leadership within the College of Arts and Sciences. Churches United Receives $100K Grant to Fight Hunger and Homelessness🏗️

Churches United has been awarded a $100,000 grant from West Central Initiative to support its work serving people experiencing homelessness and hunger across the Fargo Moorhead region and greater Minnesota. CEO Pastor Devlyn Brooks said the organization is grateful for the support, noting Churches United serves a roughly 100 mile radius from Fargo Moorhead. The nonprofit reports strong demand at the Dorothy Day Food Pantry, with more than 1,000 visits and nearly 52,000 pounds of food distributed in November alone, along with 140 new households seeking assistance. Camp includes a snack, a holiday craft, learning a dance, and fun games, all designed for kids ages 3 to 6. No dance experience is needed, just come ready to enjoy the morning. Spots are limited and registration is available online for $58.

Santa Visits Kingpinz 🎅 - The Big Guy in Red is back at Kingpinz for festive family fun. Bring the family, your Christmas list, and your biggest smiles for a free visit with Santa. Make it a full holiday outing with Brunch at Barons, then stick around for bowling, arcade games, or lunch for a day packed with merry memories.

A Fantastic Fundraiser

Fill the Boot Brings Big Support to Local Kids 🧦

The West Fargo Rural Fire Department’s annual Fill the Boot event brought the community together Friday to support the Golden Drive Homeless Kids organization, which provides essential items to children facing homelessness across Fargo Moorhead. This year’s event raised $11,501 and also celebrated a record-breaking sock drive with 46,215 pairs donated. Guests included Jay Thomas of WDAY Radio, Scoopie the Culver’s mascot, Santa, the Grinch, and local leaders including West Fargo Mayor Bernie Dardis. The West Fargo Police Department led all law enforcement agencies by donating 14,405 pairs of socks and earning the traveling trophy. For more details read the article here.
