Scoops of the Day
Fargo Airport Debuts One-of-a-Kind Travel Experience ✈️
Travelers passing through Fargo’s airport now have a chance to explore the world before they even board their flight. Hector International Airport has introduced the first immersive reality room located inside an operational airport terminal anywhere in the world. The space features 360-degree computer-generated imagery powered by Immersive Reality USA, allowing visitors to virtually step into more than 700 locations, including destinations like Buckingham Palace and Walt Disney World, all without wearing goggles.
Airport leaders say the goal is to create a more engaging and welcoming travel experience. Alongside the virtual room, the airport has also opened a new sensory room designed for passengers who may need a quieter environment, including children on the autism spectrum or those with sensory sensitivities. The space features soft lighting, comfortable seating, and a calming bubble wall, the first of its kind in a U.S. airport terminal.

Meet Finn: Cass County’s Newest (and Furriest) Deputy 🐾
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has welcomed a new member to its team, and he comes with four legs and a wagging tail. K-9 Finn, a 14-month-old Labrador Retriever, has officially been sworn in as the county’s first Community Outreach Comfort Dog. Partnered with Deputy Jolene Fletcher, Finn will focus on building connections across the community while offering support during challenging situations.
Finn’s role will include attending community events, visiting schools, assisting during crisis situations, and providing comfort during investigations or other traumatic incidents. He will also help support wellness efforts for staff within the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Jesse Jahner says the program reflects the strong partnership between local law enforcement and the community, noting it was made possible through support from local organizations, residents, and the Cass County Commission.

Bison Dance Back Into March Madness 🦬
The North Dakota State Bison are heading back to the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament for the first time in seven seasons. NDSU (27-7) earned a No. 14 seed in the East Region and will take on No. 3 seed Michigan State (25-7) Thursday in Buffalo, New York. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. Central Time, with the game airing on TNT.
The Bison punched their ticket with a 70-62 victory over the North Dakota Fighting Hawks in the Summit League Championship in Sioux Falls, marking the third time in three weeks NDSU defeated their in-state rivals. Along the way, the Bison also picked up wins over Oral Roberts and Omaha to reach the title game. This marks the program’s fifth NCAA Tournament appearance, and the first since the 2020 season, when the tournament was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Frozen in Time

A Century of Lights, Film, and Fargo History 🎬
The Fargo Theatre is celebrating a major milestone this week, marking 100 years since the iconic downtown venue first opened its doors on March 15, 1926. Originally debuting with the silent film The Man on the Box and a live performance on its newly installed Wurlitzer pipe organ, the Broadway movie palace quickly became a cultural centerpiece. Over the decades, the theater hosted vaudeville acts, transitioned into the era of “talkies,” and welcomed notable visitors including Tom Mix, Babe Ruth, and Boris Karloff. A major Art Deco remodel in 1937 helped define the theater’s signature style that still stands out along Broadway today.
The building faced serious challenges in the 1980s before community members stepped in to preserve it. Local supporters formed a nonprofit, raised funds, and eventually restored the theater to its 1937 Art Deco appearance during a major renovation in the late 1990s. Today, the theater remains a beloved venue for films, concerts, and community events.
To mark the centennial, celebrations are planned throughout the weekend. A roaring 20s-themed fundraiser takes place Saturday night, followed by a Sunday birthday variety show featuring a silent film with live Wurlitzer music, dance performances, and the premiere of a new documentary highlighting the theater’s first 100 years. The celebration will continue later this year with a special film series and ongoing efforts to restore the historic organ.
