Scoops of the Day

Red River Market Season Is in Full Swing! 🌽

The Red River Market officially launched its outdoor season at Broadway Square on July 11, bringing together local vendors, food trucks, live entertainment, and plenty of community spirit. Even the summer heat couldn't keep people away, with families taking advantage of the splash pad while shoppers explored fresh produce, handmade goods, and other local favorites.

Organizers with Folkways say they're continuing to enhance the market experience each year, including welcoming new vendors offering everything from locally roasted coffee to fresh baked bread. The market will be held every Saturday through October 31, with one exception. The July 19 market will take place on Sunday instead of Saturday, making it the only Sunday market of the season. They're Off to the Races! 🏇

The North Dakota Horse Park is back in action for another racing season, with opening weekend drawing fans to the track despite the summer heat. Horses, jockeys, and spectators all found ways to stay cool as the races got underway, kicking off another season of live horse racing in Fargo.

Visitors can also expect an upgraded viewing experience this year. Park officials have invested in new video equipment, including drone footage, HD cameras, and an improved big screen, making it easier for fans to follow the action whether they're in the grandstands or elsewhere on the grounds. Looking ahead, one of the park's most anticipated events returns this Saturday with the always entertaining corgi races. . For more details, read the full article here.

Race the Red Paddles Through the Heat 🌊

One of River Keepers' longest running traditions is set to return, but this year's Race the Red is facing an unusual challenge. Instead of strong river currents, organizers are closely watching the forecast as extreme heat could impact both paddlers and spectators. To help everyone stay safe, extra water stations and shade tents are planned, and officials are even considering shortening the event by canceling the six mile race if temperatures become too dangerous.

Despite the weather concerns, River Keepers hopes to keep the event on the calendar. Race the Red has become a favorite annual tradition for kayakers from across the region and remains one of the organization's signature events. If you're planning to attend or participate, be sure to prepare for the heat and watch for any event updates. For more details, read the full article here.
