Scoops of the Day
Homeowners Reminded to Apply for Property Tax Credit 🏠
North Dakota homeowners are being urged to apply for the Primary Residence Credit Program, which can reduce a property tax bill by up to $1,600. The program, created in 2023 and expanded in 2025, is available to residents who own and live in their primary home. The application portal opened January 1, and more than 55,000 homeowners applied within the first six days, showing strong interest statewide.
State Tax Commissioner Brian Kroshus encouraged residents not to wait until the April 1 deadline, noting that delays often lead to missed opportunities. Some homeowners who combine this credit with other programs, such as military housing credits, may end up paying little to nothing in state property taxes. Applications are submitted online through the state tax website. For more details, read the full article here.
Dunkin Proposed Inside South Fargo Walmart ☕
A Dunkin location may be coming to Fargo. Public records show an application has been submitted to add a Dunkin inside the Walmart at 3757 55th Avenue South. The proposal outlines new tenant space within the store. The application lists a projected construction cost of $275,000 and an occupancy load of 18 people. No opening date or additional details have been announced at this time. For more details, read the full article here.

Last Chance to support Charlie’s Place
Charlie’s Place Coffee Shop in Fargo is preparing to close its doors after nearly a year in business, citing ongoing financial challenges. The shop employs about a dozen workers with cognitive disabilities and is operated by the nonprofit Art and Soul: Adults with Disabilities. Owner Val Olson said the business has consistently fallen short of what is needed to cover daily operating costs, leading to the difficult decision to close, likely next week.
Despite the closure, the impact of Charlie’s Place has been significant for both employees and the community. Workers described the shop as a place where they found purpose, confidence, and meaningful connections, while managers emphasized the capabilities and value of employees with disabilities when given the opportunity. Although the coffee shop is closing, Olson confirmed that Art and Soul will continue its mission of supporting adults with disabilities in other ways. For more details, read the full article here.
