MSUM Launches New Cybercrime Degree This Fall 💻
Students interested in the growing world of digital investigations will soon have a new option at Minnesota State University Moorhead. The university announced it will begin offering a Bachelor of Arts degree in cybercrime this fall, combining cybersecurity, criminal justice, and sociology into one career focused program. The degree is designed to prepare students for roles that investigate and combat crimes with digital footprints, which are now tied to the vast majority of modern offenses.
According to Minnesota State University Moorhead, the program will give students hands on experience with real world investigative methods, including open source intelligence techniques used by security professionals. Program coordinator Karen Branden says the goal is to train future investigators to track criminals and gather evidence across both digital and physical spaces. With careers like information security analysts expected to grow significantly in the coming years, the university hopes the new program will help meet the rising demand for cybercrime expertise. $2B Boost for Massive AI Data Center Near Harwood 🤖
A major artificial intelligence project in the Fargo area just received a significant financial push. Applied Digital Corporation has secured $2.15 billion through a bond offering to support construction of its Polaris Forge 2 campus near Harwood. The large scale facility, currently leased to Oracle, is expected to serve as a powerful AI data center and will add 200 megawatts of computing capacity as part of the project.
The development was first announced last August, with plans to break ground in September 2025 on a 280 megawatt “AI Factory” spanning more than 900 acres. Once operational, the Harwood campus is expected to create more than 200 full time jobs and will be powered by Cass County Electric Cooperative. Applied Digital already operates a similar data center campus in Ellendale, North Dakota, as it continues expanding its presence in the growing AI infrastructure industry.
