Families can enjoy an evening of free fun at Move & Play Day on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at The Lights in West Fargo. From 5 to 7 p.m., kids of all ages can make their way through a movement circuit featuring gymnastics, ninja challenges and fitness games. Grab an event passport, visit the different stations and you could even walk away with a prize!

Families can get ready for the new school year at Youthworks’ annual “We’ve Got You Covered” clothing giveaway on Thursday, Aug. 13, at Fargo South High School. From 5 to 8 p.m., middle and high school students, young adults and families can pick up free clothing, shoes, coats, accessories and school supplies. No registration is needed, and everything is available at no cost.

Youth can shop exclusively during the 5 to 6 p.m. VIP hour, with families welcome from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will also feature backpacks and school supplies, plus a money skills workshop from Chase. Grab your biggest turkey leg and get ready to step back in time! The Renaissance Faire is bringing medieval fun to the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, with vendors, food, activities, colorful banners and plenty of pageantry for the whole family. There’s enough to see and do to easily fill an entire day, whether you’re bringing the kids, making it a family outing or just looking for something a little different.

Stretch, Breathe & Enjoy the Outdoors 🧘 - Take your yoga practice outside at Rheault Farm every Wednesday at 6 p.m.! A certified instructor will lead a relaxing 60-minute session for all experience levels. Bring your mat, enjoy the fresh air and unwind while supporting local charities through a free will donation. No registration is required.

A Night to Remember 🕊️ - The Garden of Healing will host its Annual Brick Ceremony to honor loved ones whose names have been added to the garden’s pathways. Enjoy music, refreshments and a peaceful evening of remembrance as the community celebrates the lives and memories that continue to live on.

Good Food, Good Neighbors, Good Price 🍽️ - No dinner plans? Stop by Moorhead Public Library on the second Thursday of the month for a delicious, affordable meal from Heart-n-Soul Community Cafe. Their mobile food truck will be serving up nourishing, locally sourced meals with kid-friendly, vegetarian and gluten-free options when available.With a “pay what you can” model, everyone is welcome to enjoy a meal without worrying about the price. No registration is needed, so come hungry and enjoy a little community connection around the table!

A Church Gets a New Life Through Music 🎶

An 1885 Lutheran church in Binford is getting a second chance thanks to music teacher and University of North Dakota professor Thomas Anderson. After the historic West Prairie Lutheran Church sat vacant, Anderson purchased the building and had it moved a couple of miles to his property, saving it from possible vandalism or demolition.

The restoration will be a big project, with plans to carefully preserve the original sanctuary while eventually adding modern comforts and a small kitchen and bathroom. Anderson hopes the space will eventually become a place for live music and community gatherings, bringing people together much like the church did for generations.
