Scoops of the Day
🏒 UND Hockey Players Bring Smiles to Sanford
The University of North Dakota men’s hockey season is still a couple of months away, but two players are already making an impact in the Fargo-Moorhead community.
Defenseman EJ Emery and incoming goalie Alex Scheiwiller recently spent time with young patients at Sanford’s main campus hospital, signing autographs, coloring pictures and having fun with kids in Cully’s Kids Cabin. The activity space was created through the foundation of Moorhead hockey legend Matt Cullen.
Both players said the opportunity to brighten the kids’ days was especially meaningful. Emery was drafted 30th overall by the New York Rangers in 2024 and is currently considered one of the organization’s top prospects. Scheiwiller joins UND this season after an outstanding year in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, where he was named Goaltender of the Year and playoff MVP.

🧁 Sweet Success: Addie’s Cupcake Stand Returns!
For 13 years, Addie’s Cupcake Stand has been turning cupcakes into something much bigger than a sweet treat. The fundraiser, part of local nonprofit Spread Your Sunshine, was started by Addie Loerzel and her mom, Marisa, to create fun, inclusive and positive experiences for kids throughout the Fargo-Moorhead area.
Now a rising senior in NDSU’s business program, Addie continues balancing school with her commitment to the nonprofit. The next cupcake stand is coming up, giving the community another chance to grab a treat while supporting a great cause.
Addie, her mom and a special celebrity guest recently stopped by the Morning Show to talk about what it takes to keep the tradition going and why the work continues to be so sweet.
